Downland, forests and beaches are the subjects of my work which I paint or collage aiming to convey the beauty and atmosphere in the natural world. My practice, which includes ink paintings on wooden panels and decorative ink collages reflect the changing seasons, an admiration for the natural world and a love of the decorative arts.
I paint using lightfast inks because I love their colour intensity and because the medium suits my direct, experimental approach. I work mainly from my studio at home near Lewes, East Sussex having been inspired by my natural surroundings.
Where to see my work?
My work is continuously on display at Chalk Gallery an artist-run gallery in Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 2PA open 7 days a week from 10am -5pm. I regularly participate in exhibitions in and around Sussex such as at the Green Tree Gallery, Borde Hill, Haywards Heath RH16 1XP, (open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10.30--4pm/5pm during British Summer time), at Artologie, Cuckfield, Gallery 92, Hurstpierpoint and Artists Open Houses and group shows. I had my first solo show in Littlehampton at the end of 2017. My work can also be found online on Artfinder.
During 2019 I will be running collage workshops for 4/5 students at a time from my garden studio. For more details please see my Collage Workshop page and contact me via my contact page for more information.
